Facing the mesmerizing Bay of Bengal, The Promenade is a luxurious boutique hotel offering a luxurious accommodation and a fantastic service. Located in the heart of Pondicherry, the hotel is shrewdly done in the French style and has a distinctly contemporary interior. A five-star property, the hotel provides everything luxurious and in style.

The Blue Line is a nice round the clock restaurant here that has to offer its guests an excellent range of authentic Oriental and Mediterranean dishes. Elaborate buffets regularly laid here. An exotic lounge is also there at The Promenade, the Risque. It has an excellent selection of wines, beers, and other liquors. The bartender here can also get you some exotic cocktails and mocktails.

The Blue Line is the best place to have a lunch and dinner in Pondicherry City. It provides the affordable food services in this area. It offers dishes like Veg, Non-Veg and North Indian, Italian and now French! It has some others mouth-watering dishes that make you feel delighted. Moreover, it has the great interior that is well furnished and equipped with amazing lights and impressive dining table.

Guests were hosted by Dilip Kapur, founder-president of Hidesign. Dilip Kapur, runs the two heritage properties, The Promenade and Le Dupleix (both located in the heart of the colonial “White Town”). With Hidesign established as a premium leather brand, Kapur is intent on bringing the best of both worlds to his luxury hotels, in particular with a sizeable amount of salvaged, repurposed antique woodwork, furniture, and valuable artworks. Now, Kapur is set to make The Promenade (with its lounge bar Risque, and the rooftop Bay of Buddha, Lighthouse, apart from BlueLine) the leading destination for French cuisine in South India.

Sole Meuniere was the dish served. As a part of the restaurant’s new French menu, the flatfish sole was served “in the style of the Miller’s wife (Meunier in English),” it was pan-fried with brown butter and garnished with lemon, parsley, and capers. The meat was merely tender, moist and fleshy. It was brilliant as my friend quoted. They loved it and savored it.

The kitchen was led by, Chef Satish Rajasekaran and the restaurant’s faithful allies clearly benefit from the day’s fresh-from-the-sea catch. BlueLine has a lot to offer for both vegetarian and non-vegetarians.

The new BlueLine menu makes room for specialties such as the Sea Salt Roasted Vegetable Lasagna, Parmesan & Herb-Crusted Grilled Snapper. Quiche Lorraine, for its patrons from Pondicherry’s Franco-Indian community, of about 15,000 families in the town’s “Little Paris” locality, who are known for their affection for spicy Creole cuisine.

Then, Double Baked Three Cheese Souffle – Organic cheese from Auroville’s artisan cheese makers stand ideal for souffle. This souffle was made with goat cheese, parmesan, gouda and twice baked with cheese fondue. Lip-smacking!

Next up was Bouillabaisse (traditional Provençal fish stew) an authentic preparation, in the way of the fishermen of Marseille, with a broth of leeks, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes, served with a favorite rouille, or spicy flavored mayonnaise, on a grilled slice of bread. My friends and guests enjoyed it.

Then skillfully spread lemon sorbet for a palate cleanser, my main courses started with the Wild Mushroom Vol-au-Vent (Porcini Mushroom Pate) laden with pungent, woodsy flavors; and the unavoidable classic Coq Au Vin. French for ‘rooster with wine,’ this was a free-range chicken braised with shallots, mushrooms, and a full-bodied red wine. I liked Mushroom Vol-au-Vent.

My meal, continued with the Auroville Cheese Platter, offering more selections of artisanal cheeses, before winding down with profiteroles (Rich Dark Belgian chocolate ice cream filled in choux pastry) and a piece of tarte Tatin for dessert.

The tarte Tatin, a signature upside-down pastry with apples caramelized in butter and sugar. The Chef Satish’s expertise in French cuisine was escorted in for a lengthy round of applause from around the table.

The Promenade kitchen is defined in setting its standards. Salads and Pasta were good, but Pizzas were excellent. I highly recommend trying burgers and sandwiches. Biryani was available, dal, tandoori bread was there. Overall a magnificent day out there, I loved the staff. They were polite and very courteous. I’m sure, and I will visit again with my family.
