You can view the Taj Mahal at night 4 times this month.

Admiring the Taj Mahal at night is a different kind of experience where according to the official announcement, the white marble beauty will be open to admirers for night viewing during ‘Sharad Purnima’ for four nights in October.

 “As the Taj Mahal remains closed on Friday, tourists will be allowed to view the monument at night for four days, from Saturday to Tuesday.” Said Rajkumar Patel, superintending archaeologist.

To view the Taj Mahal at night, one needs to purchase tickets and interested people can buy their tickets one day prior to the night viewing date from the counter at the ASI office.

This October, Sharad Purnima will be observed on the intervening night of the 9th and 10th. This beautiful phenomenon is known as chamki and on this day, you can witness the beautiful monument shimmering under a full moon night. 

This is one such time when tourists from across the globe crowd the monument to experience this beauty. In 2021, the Taj Mahal was kept open for five nights around the full moon every month.

Things to remember: 

 1) Only 400 people will be allowed for the night viewing experience.

 2) These people will be further divided into eight slots, ranging from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
