Top spiritual places in New Delhi

India is a country where we believe in Spirituality a lot. Having been home to various religions and sects, we have temples/mosques/churches etc dedicated to the particular religion and many people visit the same. Some of these religious sites have gained large followers and are some of the places to visit not just to worship, but also to explore the intricate designs of these places.

Lotus Temple

One of the famous temples in the city of New Delhi, Lotus Temple attracts visitors due to its design which is in the form of Lotus Flower. The temple belongs to Bahai Faith, who follow a form of Monotheistic religion which promotes love for humanity. The temple was completed in the year 1986 and opened to the public the same year. It is designed in Lotus shape and is composed of 27 marble petals which are arranged in concentric clusters. The evenings at this temple is beautiful as the temple is illuminated and is a perfect photographic place.  The temple won Guinness World Record in the year 2001 as one of the most visited religious building in the world.

Hazrat Nizammudin Dargah

Hazrat Nizammudin Dargah or Mausoleum is a religious place dedicated to the Sufi saint Nizammudin Auliya who was worshipped during early 13th Century. The mausoleum is located in a busy part of Nizammudin west and is visited by people of all religion. The dargah has tombs of 13th-century Sufi poet Amir Khusro, 17th-century Mughal princess Jahanara Begum, and 19th-century Sufi musician Inayat Khan, the founder of Sufi order in the West.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

The gurudwaras are the holy site of worship for the Sikh Community and when you visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib you can easily spend a day exploring, listening to music, reciting Guru Granth Sahib and also have the langar arranged over here. The Gurudwara is located in Delhi’s Famous Connaught Place where it is surrounded by a beautiful pool and is one of the famous gurudwara to visit when you are exploring New Delhi.

Ramakrishna Mission

Ramakrishna Mission is the mission established in the name of great saint Ramakrishna who was the teacher of Swami Vivekananda It is located in Paharganj region of New Delhi and is the place where you can meditate, study lessons and teachings from Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda etc. This is a perfect place to escape from the touristic area of Paharganj in New Delhi.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram

Dedicated to one of India’s greatest patriot ‘Aurobindo Ghose’, Sri Aurobindo Ashram is located in Acini area of New Delhi. This Ashram was opened as a centre of the field of practice for the evolution of another kind of form of life where the end will be moved by higher spiritual consciousness. Again, it’s a place to escape the hustle of the city and meditate to gain inner consciousness.
