Osaka is a designated city in the Kansai region of Japan. Osaka is the capital of Osaka Prefecture and is one of the second largest cities in Japan after Tokyo. It is a laidback city in Japan and here you will not notice anyone being in a hurry. Although if you are planning for an adventure, Osaka has many things that tourists and locals can explore.

Universal Studios Japan: One of the two major theme parks in Japan is the Universal Studios located in Osaka, Japan. The other being Disneyland in Tokyo, Universal Studios is one of the most visited theme parks here in Japan. Universal Studios Japan has 9 attractions zones namely Hollywood, New York, San Francisco, Jurassic Park, Waterworld, Amity Village, Universal Wonderland, Minion Park and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can enjoy these attractions and enjoy the day spent here in the calm city of Osaka.

  • Osaka-jo:Osaka-jo is a famous called as Osaka Castle, it is a symbol of Japan and is one of the greatest castles in Japan. The castle was constructed in order of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who is considered one of the greatest person in the history of Japan. The castle was constructed in the year 1583 and it is said that it took over 100,000 persons to build the same. Inside the castle, you can notice weaponry used during the wars. You can visit the 8th floor of the castle where you will get panoramic views of the city.
  • Dotonburi:One of the most touristic neighbourhoods in Osaka, Dotonburi is a place where you can notice many flashing lights, shop displays, rooftop restaurants, shopping places where you will not get bored of visiting this flashy place.
  • Sumiyoshi Shrine: Sumiyoshi Shrine is said to be one of the oldest shrines in Japan and not only in the Osaka region. It is said that the shrine was built around 1,800 years ago and is one of the beautiful shrines located here. it displays a unique style of shrine architecture, called Sumiyoshi-zukuri,

Sumiyoshi-zukuri is characterized by straight roofs which are decorated by two sets of forked finials (Chigi) and five horizontal billets (katsuogi). Furthermore, buildings constructed in Sumiyoshi-zukuri style have their entrance under the gable and are surrounded by a fence.

  • Shitennoji Temple:Built-in 6th Century is one of Japan’s oldest temples. It was founded by prince Shotuku who is said to have supported Buddhism in Japan. It was destroyed during the war and many times by fire which has been rebuilt several times. Shitennoji Temple has 5 pagodas and a shrine of Shotuku which is enshrined in the statue of Kannon. You can visit the temple for free, however, the treasure house and garden is charged.
