The US lifts Coronavirus Travel Advisory

After months of lockdown and barring visitors to enter, the United States of America finally announced that people can now visit the country. They lifted the ‘Do Not Travel’ Global Health Advisory on July 06th however, the Trump administration still has put a hold for 50 countries where one cannot travel to and that includes China and India. Hence, the US citizens are not allowed to those 50 countries which include India and China.

The US state health department in their official statement announced, “With health and safety conditions improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the Department is returning to our previous system.” Also, they have further mentioned that the citizens should be extremely cautious when travelling abroad given the nature of the virus which is highly contagious.

In March of 2020, the US had announced L-4: Do not travel advisory to some countries which is one of the highest levels of emergency where Americans cannot travel to the countries abroad given the contagious form of Covid-19.

In it’s latest, travel advisory The US mentioned “Do not travel to India due to Covid-19. Exercise increased caution in India due to crime and terrorism.” And given the rapid spread of the virus, border shutdown, travel restrictions and airport closures India still needs to open up for tourism.

The travel advisory also mentioned that the healthcare system in India is limited and if any person catches Coronavirus in India, it will difficult to get treated. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) in their statement said: “if you get sick in India and need medical care, resources may be limited.” Deputy assistant secretary Karin King said, “CDC continues to monitor every country in the world, and as they identify that a country is either improving or that a country may be going in the other direction, they will let us know and we will, in turn, make the adjustment.” So the travel advisory might get changed if the cases see a decline curve.

Apart from India, China some of the countries that are in L4 Travel advisory list include Syria, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Russia, Mexico, Afghanistan, Egypt and Brazil. Only a handful of countries are in an L1 travel advisory that includes Taiwan and Australia.
