Thailand might reopen to tourism as soon as July 01

On Tuesday, Thailand tourism introduced a campaign to welcome international tourists to the beautiful SE Asian country. The campaign is titled #OpenThailandSafely will welcome tourists from across the globe by July 01, 2021, and by this time it helps prospective international tourists to get vaccinated.

Additionally, the organizers also expect the Thai medical authorities will be able to vaccinate its front-line workers and vulnerable citizens by July 01. Also, the said date will also allow airlines, hotels enough time to welcome tourists from abroad.

The World Health Organization has warned about the risk of countries easing restrictions too fast. William Heinecke, Chairman of Minor International PCL that operates over 500 hotels across the globe is leading the petition where he is doing a campaign to reopen the borders in the 3rd quarter of the year 2021.

This online petition received over 6000 signs within 2 days. “The current situation is unsustainable. The July 1 reopening would be a strategic opportunity for Thailand to show a leadership role among Asian countries and prepare the way for a solid recovery of the Thai economy in 2022.”

Thailand with strict lockdown measures has managed to contain Covid-19 infections and reported around 84 deaths. But due to the lockdown, the country suffered due to no tourism which is one of the main contributors to GDP. And after successful reopening, the country will inspire other tourism-dependent countries which might open up gradually.
