OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus Communications founded in 2013 has released various premium segment phones for over the years and as similar to previous years, they have released the premium phone this year and named as OnePlus 8 and it’s Pro version as OnePlus 8 Pro. They have released over 11 phones which are most trusted phones in the market. The characteristic features of OnePlus devices are they introduce Ultra High Specification phones which are usually found in premium models in any other phones in their flagship phones. 

Macrotraveller being one of the ardent followers of OnePlus range of smartphones have tried the OnePlus 8 pro version of a premium phone. This phone was launched in India in April 2020. They have released 2 versions of the phones with 128GB and 256GB memory.

OnePlus 8 Pro has a host list of new updates which one can be excited when they start using. That includes IP-Certified waterproofing and wireless charging. This new update was ignored by OnePlus over the years and this new phone is free of compromises.

OnePlus 8 Pro has a big screen with 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED panel with high colour accuracy and HDR10+ support. With its new 120Hz refresh rate, which is an increase from 90Hz refresh rate the phone has gained the speed quickly. Another new update from OnePlus that they introduced in 8 Pro series is the Motion Graphics Smoothing which when enabled it bumps up the frame rate of video of smoother viewing ability. There is a comforting tone which is similar to Apple’s true tone which adjusts the colour temperature based on the surrounding.

With 6.78inch the phone has a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, the phone possesses 1440×3168 pixels with 513ppi density. The phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The dimensions of OnePlus 8 pro include 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.5 mm and it weighs 199g.

OnePlus 8 Pro runs on Android 10, Oxygen OS 10.0 and uses Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 chipset, CPU and GPU being Octa-core and Adreno 650 respectively. OnePlus 8 Pro does not come with memory card slot, however, the huge inbuilt memory is self-sufficient with the phones coming in 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM size.  The phone does not have 3.5mm headphone jack but supports Loudspeakers which are stereo speakers.

With a host of features, the OnePlus 8 Supports many features such as Fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, The phone also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.1, A2DP, LE, aptX HD, Dual-band GPS with GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, SBAS. The phone also supports NFC and the phone uses USB 3.1 Type-c which is a reversible connector. The phone has a huge battery of Non-removable Li-Po 4510 mAh battery capable of fast wired charging with 30W power which takes 23minutes for 50% charge, fast wireless charge with 30W power which takes 30 minutes for 50% charge and reverse wireless charge with 3W power.

Coming to the camera which OnePlus never compromises on their premium segment of the smartphone where OnePlus 8 Pro comes with Quad Camera which the main camera is 48 MP Sony IMX689, f/1.8, 25mm (wide), 1/1.43″, the pixel size of 1.12µm, omnidirectional PDAF, Laser AF, OIS. The telephoto camera comes with 8MP Resolution with optical stabilization, the pixel size of 1/1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom. The Wide-angle camera gets a big upgrade with 48 MP, f/2.2, 14mm, 116˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, PDAF and the 5MP colour filter camera which faced a severe backlash as it was able to view objects behind the clothes, OnePlus in their recent update removed the function. The rear cameras feature Dual LED Flash with HDR and Panorama view. The video support from rear cameras is 4K at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60/240fps, Auto HDR, gyro-EIS.

OnePlus 8 Pro can record videos at 16:9 and a 21:9 aspect ratio that OnePlus calls 4K CINE. However, while shooting you cannot switch the sensors however the results are impressive.

The selfie camera comes with 16 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.06″, the pixel size of 1.0µm capable of Auto-HDR and video can be recorded with [email protected], gyro-EIS.

Both the photos taken from rear and front cameras give us the crisp and clear images which one can notice once they take the phone.

Overall, OnePlus 8 Pro is a very good phone at a premium range of smartphones yet a bit cheap premium range which every person can afford. With its feather smooth UI, one easily can fall in love with using the phone as the phone while using never hanged. I recommend the use of this phone if you want a worthy phone that lasts long.
