North-East India will get airports for better connectivity.

According to the Union Minister of State of Development of the North Eastern Region,  Jintendra Singh, Manipur, and Agartala will be getting two more international airports to have increased connectivity in the region. The northeast region is widely left out as no proper airports are connecting the regions and with these 2 new airports, there might be changes.

The minister further stated that such a facility is also going to come up at Kohima and the other at Itanagar which is all set to function by the end of the year.

Speaking at an event, the minister said, “At present, there is an international airport in Guwahati. We are planning to have airports in Imphal and Agartala as well.”

He further stated that the golden period of the Northeast has finally arrived now, this is the time when the country is looking to strengthen its economy post-covid-19. Regions that are unexplored sectors will be looked upon for tourism.

The North East region is still relatively unexplored, except for certain parts and providing good connectivity here would certainly change that. The seven sister states are full of natural wonders, and great experiences, with unique tribal cultures residing here.
