Mumbai’s Special SamBAR Pub & Kitchen #MTinMumbai

SamBar Pub is a masterpiece restaurant that serves a wide variety of South Indian delicious cuisine and yummy Finger Food. The uniquely handpicked dishes take you to a refined ride. The fantastic artwork of this place blended with a lovely outdoor seating and live music give the diners a wholesome experience. The bonus to this awesomeness is a trendy and well-stocked bar. SamBar Pub & Kitchen is located in Khar West and is opposite to Khar Education Society.

SamBar – Quite a unique name! This is apparently the first South Indian bar in Mumbai. I gave them a visit recently and had a pleasant experience. The ambiance and the way the servers are dressed will make you fall in love with this place. The fishnets, coconut tops, and hand-painted Kathakali art will make you feel like you’re on a South Indian vacay the moment you step into the SamBar. Here, there’s a South Indian take on everything – from interiors, food, drinks to the staff.

Innovative, tasty & with a twist, their cocktails are unique while packing a wallop. Must try are Rasam Mary – a play on the traditional Bloody Mary, with rasam, tequila, lime, Tabasco and tomato juice. Curry Martini – a classic martini infused with curry leaves. Capi Madras – is a caffeinated cocktail of vodka, coffee liqueur, and cardamom. Spice-a-talam – comprising of vodka, coriander, chaat masala and Tabasco. Litchi Elachi – another Vodka based drink and Anna Colada (Subtle than the classic sugary one) to name a few.

Note: All the drinks & Cocktails can be ordered by the glass or for the inebriated ones, by the liter.

Similarly, the food menu offers dishes from different regions, but everything is presented with a distinct South Indian culinary twist.

coconut oil is used for most of the preparations, and most of the ingredients are sourced directly from the Southern parts of India.

The must-try dishes include Goli Bajje (Mangalore bajji- deep fried maida balls with a crisp layer inside) Gun Powder Fries, Meen Pollichattu, Kori Rotti, Andhra Fish Fingers, Poricha Kozhi, Meen Urundai and Peppered Meen. Among many other native dishes that bring the distinct flavors from the South Indian coastline to the table.

Something that you should always order: Their Impressive Payasam which is a homemade infusion of the traditional Payasam but with a twist. Surprisingly they do not have any desserts on the menu.

But, the real winner is the SamBAR menu! If you now like Pina Colada, you need a taste of Anna Colada with its south Indian flavour  It is amazing. The filter coffee cocktail is something all those addicted to caffeine will crave for the minute they step out of the bar!
