Manali administration to fine tourists who are not wearing masks with either INR 5000 or 8-day Jail.

After the tourism of Manali witnessed a huge influx of tourists post unlock, a covid-19 awareness campaign has now been initiated following this the government introduced covid-19 related relaxation in the region.

Referring to this Kullu SP Gurudev Sharma stated that they have initiated this drive to make tourists aware where those tourists who are not wearing a mask will be punished with INR 5000 in fine or 8-days in jail he added. He also informed that the police has recorded over 300 challans and have collected over INR 3 lakh in the past 7-8 days.

Recently, the centre warned about the case of revenge travel becoming the new norm and the pictures of tourists overcrowding in Manali was doing rounds on social media which raised fear of impeding the third wave of coronavirus.

Earlier this week, the Union Health Ministry warned that it will reimpose restrictions once again if people keep breaking covid-19 protocols and referring to the influx of tourists in hill stations the health ministry reiterated that it is a gross violation of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour which can affect the gains that have been achieved so far.

Pictures spread across social media where many tourists are said to be breaking covid-19 protocols at Kempty waterfalls in Manali, witnessing this the administration issued new directives.

As per the latest order, not more than 50 tourists will be allowed to gather at the spot, nor will they be allowed to stay there beyond half an hour. Further, a check-post will also be set up in the area to monitor tourist activity.
