From April 01, Malaysia is all set to reopen its borders for tourism, where on Tuesday, the government of Malaysia announced that it is ready to welcome fully vaxxed tourists. By doing this, the government has joined the list of nations removing COVID-19 restrictions and restarting tourism. This comes after the coronavirus has reached an endemic stage in the country.
The SE country relies heavily on tourism and is noted for its beach locations. The Nation is prized with beautiful white sand beaches and rainforests. Like all other nations, Malaysia had cut its borders for tourism purposes.
“The government has decided to open its borders on April 01, 2022. We believe this decision will boost our economy and help revive our ailing tourism sector”. In a press conference, said the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He further informed that the travelers would need to provide valid travel documents to enter and exit the country. “Taking into account the Omicron variant, which is still in our country and other countries, there are some mandatory steps for Malaysians and travelers.”
The country is reopening despite the fact that it has been recording around 25000 cases per day. Apart from Malaysia, neighboring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines also eased travel restrictions and are gradually opening their borders.
Here is the requirement to enter Malaysia.
- Starting April 01, fully vaccinated travelers can enter the country without quarantine requirements.
- Fully vaxxed travelers will have to carry their negative RT PCR test result not older than 48 hours and COVID-19 Rapid Test Kit-Antigen (RTK-Ag) test within 24 hours after the arrival.
“For those who are not fully vaccinated, or unable to receive the vaccine due to health reasons, the health minister will detail further Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tomorrow.” Said the Prime Minister while speaking about unvaccinated travelers.
