Jammu to host Jhiri Mela till November 16th

After a long gap of 2 years, Jammu to host 10 day festival of Jhiri Mela where it is expected that tons of devotees from across the country will be visiting the fair to seek blessings at Baba Jittoo temple.

The fair is being jointly organised by the Directorate of Tourism in collaboration with district administration for 10 days till November 16.

The mela is held every year during the holy period of Karthik Purnima where devotees offer their obeisance at Baba Jittoo temple in village Jhiri to seek blessings.

Referring to this, an official has mentioned that all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the Mela, which is visited by around one lakh people per day from different parts of the country.

Reports have it that since farmers mostly visit this mela, the government has made all efforts to set up special awareness stalls to inform them about the new schemes and technologies introduced for their benefit.

The highlight of this mela is also to promote the sports and cultural richness of the region and to make these things accessible among the citizens.

The mela will be attended by more than 10 lakh devotees from across the Jammu region and neighboring states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana are expected to take part in the fair to commemorate the sacrifice of the Baba.
