India and Maldives shares an air bubble

Seems like Coronavirus is showing no sign of stoppage, however as travel has resumed with many countries linking to other countries as part of Air Bubble have already begun travelling. India is one of the countries which has created an Air Travel bubble with the USA, UK, Germany and France and one of the latest country to join the list is the Maldives.

One of the most sought out destinations in the world due to its pristine location and beaches, the small island nation has opened to its tourists since July 12 but as travel to other countries outside travel bubble was banned in India, there is now permission to travel to the Maldives as India created a new travel bubble with the Maldives where the visa will be granted and flights will start to resume from August 18.

Addition to that, Visa on Arrival (VoA) is still applicable for Indian’s visiting the Maldives. Speaking about it, Dr S Jaishankar who heads the Ministry of External Affairs said that the travel bubble will boost “people-to-people ties between the two countries.

In the tweet by Dr S Jaishankar, he mentions “Happy to announce the start of regular cargo ferry service between India & Maldives to boost trade & commerce. We’re also starting an air travel bubble with the Maldives to sustain & promote the dynamic people-to-people ties between the two countries.”

However, as all countries where tourists are allowed, even Maldives has a list of guidelines which the tourists have to follow which include.

  1. Travellers are required to have confirmed booking at a registered hotel.
  2. A health declaration form is needed to be submitted 24 hours before the departure.
  • ‘Everyone who enters Maldives should undergo basic thermal screening, however, PCR is voluntary.
  1. Practising safe and sanity is important. Tourists must wear Masks and follow social distancing.
  2. Tourists who do not show symptom of Coronavirus are exempt from quarantine on arrival.
