The Macau Tower or Panoramic Tower in Portuguese is 338 meters high and is currently the 22nd tallest tower in the world. It is also the place with the best panoramic view – truly 360º – of the entire territory of Macau. This building is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers and in its space combines all kinds of tourist activities with a movie theater, a conference center, a revolving restaurant, game machines and adventure activities such as the highest bungee jump in the world.
When is the best time to go? In the afternoon, before sunset, to catch the day and then the lights of the casinos, etc. It’s a scenario you will not want to miss! The Tower began to be built in 1998, with architecture project of Gordon Moller and opened to the public on December 19, 2001. Whose idea was that? From well-known entrepreneur Stanley Ho who, after seeing the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand, was so impressed that he decided to make a similar but bigger one in Macao!
Getting Inside Macao Tower?
You can enter for free on the ground floor of the Tower building, which resembles a shopping center. It has restaurants, cafes, shops of everything and anything else (clothes, toys, etc.), cinema and patisseries.
To climb, you will have to pay a fee – tickets give you access to Floor 58 – Observation Lounge and Floor 61, where adventure activities are. After getting into the elevator, it takes only 60 seconds to get you to the top of the tower – you’ll feel the rise in your ears. In the Lounge on floor 58, there is a cafe to relax and enjoy the views, even if you do not want to do anything else.
In addition to having the panoramic view, the tower has attractions mainly aimed at the more adventurous.
The largest Bungy jump in the world (233 meters) – being this leap a Guinness record for more significant commercial Bungy Jump.
The Sky Jump, in which it “flies” (secured by cables) for 17 seconds, to descend the 233 meters of the tower. It’s different from Bungy Jump, because it stays, all the way, in the “standing” position and at the end, they say, “landing” is smoother.
MacroTraveller’s Experience!I would proudly say this is one of the few things I have achieved in my life especially doing a Bungy Jumping from the world’s highest bungee is no easy feat especially for a person with a physique like me. But it’s all about your mental strength and time, and again I have done it with lots of adventure activities be it trekking 20 km or scuba diving or Burma walk and now bungee. I have done it MacroTraveller experiences it first hand and the day jumping from the 61st floor of Macau Tower. The AJ Hackett Macau Tower Bungy Jump is 233m / 764ft high, making this jump a Guinness World Record for the Highest Commercial Bungy Jump in the world. Thanks, Macao Moments for giving me this chance and confidence to do this!
Inside the Macau Tower!
It has several restaurants (including a Tromba Rija, which serves the buffet with typical Portuguese products). Some of the spaces are located near the entrance, on the ground floor, where there is also the commercial gallery. But the restaurant that most captivates by sight, is what is near the top of the Tower. The restaurant runs. Do you believe it? Therefore, even if you are sitting at the same table, you will see everything around you.I went there for dinner, and I guarantee it is worth it, for the view and the food. As the restaurant service is a buffet, it takes a long time to choose, (and I guarantee it will be long, because there is a lot of variety of cuisine not only Macanese and Chinese but also others). I had vegetarian Indian food. It is natural that the restaurant runs so much that you have to walk further to your table. There awaits an unforgettable view of the city. And it’s natural that I’m kind of lost looking at the landscape. With those giant buildings, bridges, and neon lights and billiard lights at night. All of this is part of the experience of going to this tower. How to get to Macau Tower?
