The airline industry is one of the worst affected industry due to the pandemic. Due to lockdown imposed by almost all the countries across the world, many flights were stalled and the travel industry took a major blow.
With signs of travel recovering from 3 months-long hiatus, many airline companies are offering discounts and many offers for travellers who are planning to visit any tourist location and Etihad, one of the second largest airline and a flagship carrier of the UAE announced that they will cover COVID-19 Cost and has said that they have introduced Covid-19 global wellness insurance as part of Etihad Wellness.
Before Etihad, FlyDubai and Emirates had introduced COVID cover for travellers who get infected with the virus during travel and now Etihad has followed the same footsteps. Guests who are diagnosed with Covid-19 during their travel will not have to worry about expenses when they fly with Etihad.
The wellness insurance will cover up to Euro 150,000 of medical costs and up to Euro 100 per day as quarantine cost.
Speaking about the COVID cost provided to the passengers, Duncan Bureau, Senior Vice President Sales and Distribution, Etihad Airways, said: “The safety, health, and wellbeing of our guests and employees is our top priority, during and beyond the flight. The introduction of global COVID-19 insurance, in partnership with AXA, builds on stringent measures already in place as part of our Etihad Wellness programme, championed by our Wellness Ambassadors.”.
This new insurance cover will instil confidence among travellers when travel has been worst affected. While the countries are opening their borders, airlines are trying their best to lure in passengers and make it possible for ease of travel and safe travelling.
The new insurance will be active for 31 days from the first day of travel and all bookings starting now to 31st December 2020 would be enrolled in the programme. All current bookings will also include the insurance which will be valid for 31 days.
