Now that Unlock 1.0 is over and Unlock 2.0 has begun, India is gradually returning itself to how was it before and Darjeeling one of the hill stations in North India has announced that it is open to tourists from July 1.

The queen of hill station located in the foothills of Himalayas, Darjeeling after a gruelling 3-month lockdown is opening for visitors. As per the latest reports, Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA), which is the autonomous administrative body for the hills of Darjeeling, recently formed a committee of various bodies, including political parties, hotel owners, police and district administration. And as per their last meeting, the committee has decided to reopen hotels for tourism purpose, in a move to revive the economy.

However, the committee stressed on operating hotels at standard protocols following hygiene and sanitization which would be proven safe for visitors who visit this majestic place.

The hotel owners have decided to open their doors again and people across the country are most welcome. It’s not a risk but prudent call we are taking”. Said Binay Tamag who is a chief of Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA)

Tourists visiting Darjeeling should produce fitness certificate, they should undergo COVID-19 tests at entry checkpoint and once at the hotels which they stay said GTA in the meeting.
