One of the popular hill stations in Uttarakhand, Dehradun makes it mandatory for tourists visiting from New Delhi to mandatorily test for Covid-19 before entering.
The move came after the wake of increasing covid-19 cases in New Delhi and tourists visiting the scenic location.
Dehradun health officials decided to test for Covid-19 mandatorily for people coming in from Delhi and as per reports, the tests will take place at Airport and Railway station apart from Asharodi check post in Dehradun.
And as per the report, with 1000 random samplings of people that was carried out in the past week 29 people have been reported positive and all those came from the nation’s capital.
Taking precautionary measures in hand, the authorities have decided to announce that the Covid-19 test is mandatory for people coming to the hill station from Delhi-NCR and as this is a busy touristic season, this rule has been put in place.
Speaking about this, Dr. RK Dixit, District Surveillance Officer, Dehradun, said that it has been found that due to extensive movement of people from Delhi to Uttarakhand and especially to Dehradun for weddings and short vacations, it is important for people to test them as they move to hills and other touristic places.
Testing at the border is conducted free of charge as of now and can become a paid test as per health officials.
As per another report, Nainital is reportedly considering to start a test for Covid-19 at its border and Haridwar also started random border testing for people coming in from Delhi and especially those who halt at Haridwar.
