China has launched a digital Covid-19 certificate for its citizens who are planning to travel cross-border and thus becoming one of the countries issuing similar documents for people who want to travel and countries who are planning to reopen their economies.
As the vaccines are rolled out globally few countries have started to roll out vaccine passports for people who are vaccinated for the coronavirus. The European Union also agreed to start vaccine passports as many countries have already started cross-border travel.
The digital certificate issued by China would have details about the holder’s Covid-19 vaccine information and coronavirus test results. This information was published on the Department of Consular Affairs under China’s foreign ministry said on its website.
Foreign Ministry Wang Yi said on Sunday that the certificate aimed to achieve mutual verification of information such as nucleic acid testing and vaccination and also contribute to safe and orderly interaction with people.
China on the other has not announced the relaxation of quarantine measures for people arriving at the nation and those who are vaccinated for covid-19.
The countries health authority were studying issues including whether vaccinated tourists to China could be exempted from 14 days of quarantine said the Global Times which is a leading newspaper in China.
