Cafe Felix goes Retro with an Old Fashioned Menu

Café Felix is bringing the concept of all-day dining with comfort food specials and nostalgia-inducing favorites, to Bengaluru. Classic dishes have genuine warmth to them, and Cafe Felix is bringing this warmness to the chilly Bengaluru weather, with its ‘old fashioned’ menu. By combining Felix twists to remarkable classics such as Shepherd’s Pie and Spanish Paella, the restaurant in MG Mall, gave all kinds of fuzzy feelings just reading the pretty, floral menu.

I started the feast with some salads, and these were like mini meals. The Panzanella salad was light and refreshing, with tomatoes, romaine lettuce, balsamic, bloody mary, croutons and just the right amount of sheared parmesan.

You can try Potato and Leek Soup topped with bacon, and it was good. All were happy for that extra dose of bacon along with flavors of Chives, toasted pine nuts and truffle oil in the soup.

The Prawn Cocktail, served in a glass, was a large plate of fresh juicy prawns with a full amount of avocado, green cucumber, and cocktail dressing.

My friends especially loved the Toasted Ham and Potato salad, with the chunky pieces of ham, green beans, and a mayo-based dressing; all were quite full before the entrees were in.

The dishes on the entree menu were marvelous! My friends accompanied me, we ordered different dishes, and we ended up savoring some incredible meals. This includes Braised Lamb Shanks, Spanish Seafood Paella, Crumb Fried Chicken, Beer Battered Atlantic Cod, and Chips. Star dish from the entree menu was the Lobster Thermidor with Gruyére and Crabcake Benedict.I started with the Steak Stroganoff, which was my favorite of the night. Rather than traditional rice, they paired the creamy, mushroom-rich sauce with fettuccine. The Aubergine Parmigiana was also quite good and is a cheese lover’s fantasy.Next up was Spanish Paella, which had plenty of seafood and chorizo – which gave the dish its smokey flavor. The Classic Skillet Shepherd’s Pie was a little dull; as the filling lacked the vegetables we are used to observing in the iconic dish and savored more like a delicious kheema one pair with pao.Desserts menu also starred some classic dishes!

I love the desserts at Café Felix, and they always have my favorite desserts on display. We tasted the Baba Au Rhum, Caramel Custard, Sizzling Dark Chocolate Brownie, and Tiramisu. The Baba Au Rhum was hot and moist and not too sweet. It’s hard to go amiss with a sizzling brownie, but this one was good, and the in-house vanilla ice cream hit the spot. The Tiramisu was the best we’ve had in recent time and was a bit sweet for our love. The Caramel Custard, which was plated wonderfully with plenty of fresh fruit and cream, was the perfect end to the meal.Overall, we all had a fabulous time checking out the Old fashioned menu, and I would love to visit again. Chef Ritvik has done an excellent job by creating this menu. A meal for two would be 1800/- (approximately).
