Bombay Buddha Bowls At #SodaBottleOpenerWala

SodaBottleOpenerWala is everyone’s favorite Irani Cafe, with exquisite cocktails and delicious food to cure the homesick Mumbaikar. Well, they’ve now collaborated with notable food consultant and blogger Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal to launch an impressive one bowl meal concept called Bombay Buddha Bowls.Brand Head and Cuisine Director of SodaBottleOpenerWala, Mohit Balachandran and Rushina Munshaw took motivation from the concept of Buddha Bowls, which are unique single-portion full-meals packed to the edge in bowls shaped like Buddha’s belly. It proposes to bring alive the food culture of societies, who have made Bombay their home for decades and even centenaries. Every bowl consists of select dishes, which are indigenous to these communities.Mohit Balachandran says, “A Buddha bowl must have four components – starch, protein, vegetable and nuts or seeds. Indian cuisine fits perfectly. Bowls also make great images for social media, and in times of stiff competition, a marketable product like this works.”The fabulous four hearty Bombay Buddha bowls available are the Sindhi Bowl, Gujarati Bowl, Maharashtrian Bowl and East Indian Bowl inspired by Danesh Vakshoor, the Chef de Cuisine at SodaBottleOpenerWala.

Highlights of the Menu – Trend Alert Bowled Over | #MTEats

Sindhi Bowl – This bowl is inspired by the favorite Sunday comfort meal, Sindhi kadhi. Its mixed brown rice, sai bhajji, aloo tuk, papad pasta, teewan papad samosa and leafy greens brought together by a delicate Sindhi Kadhi sauce and finished with guvar, bhindi, bhee crunchies, and boondi.

Gujarati Bowl – Inspired by, what Rushina Munshaw termed as ‘Gujarati Pasta’ as a kid, this bowl takes the pasta aspect of the dal dhokli into a fun turn. This bowl consists of fenugreek and potato stuffed ravioli dhoklis, accompanied by all the necessary trimmings with a twist such as a wilted onion salad, greens, Boria Marcha drizzle and a candied peanut appetizer. It is brought together with a silky dal sweet spicy and tangy dal sauce and decorated with a papad cheese crumble.

Maharashtrian Bowl – Inspired by some of the best flavors from Maharashtrian food, this bowl is made up of red rice, savory, spicy prawn modaks, greens, coconut salad and jawla chutney induced together by a Koli fish curry sauce topped with peanut thencha and perfected with poha papad.East Indian Bowl – Inspired by Bandra’s East Indian food culture, this bowl puts merely together all the dishes, which make for a staple meal. Wedding rice and Pork vindaloo merge with the crunchy Bombil fry along with golden fried Chicken potato chops. Kanji Curried Vegetables goes in as the gravy element with Sautéed Veggies and carrot acting as the greens. Lastly, Papaya pickle placed on the side completes the meal.Bombay Cuisine Ditches the Thali & leaps over the Buddha Bowl Trend at this Parsi Restaurant Pop Up. All elements, flavors, and textures of a thali were modified into a Buddha Bowl concept. The ambiance is good, attentiveness to detail is impressive including the way the menu has been written, the decoration, glasses and kancha bottles, childhood lollies and candies, etc. I always love to be here. Thanks to SodaBottleOpenerWala’s Bombay Buddha Bowl pop up.
