Due to the surge of coronavirus cases in the Financial capital of India the government is keeping an eye on the spike of a new variant of coronavirus. The BMC which is a municipality in Mumbai will now be keeping an eye on violators who are subjected to home quarantine.
And besides this, BMC will be appointing 300 marshalls to monitor those traveling without masks in trains. Additional marshals will be hired to keep an eye on violators.
The BMC is also planning to fine hefty or up to 6 months in prison if found violating home quarantine rules. The BMC also announced that if 5 or more people are found positive in the building, it will be sealed. Surprise checks will be conducted at Wedding halls and restaurants to check if people are flouting rules.
According to officials, an FIR was filed against a resident of Chandivli by BMC as it was found that they were flouting covid-19 rules. A building in Mahim was sealed as 5 patients tested positive.
The government announced that passengers returning from Brazil must undergo mandatory institutional quarantine and the BMC will also increase testing in areas with more cases. Maharashtra is now seeing an increase in cases of coronavirus cases and many domestic states are issuing new border restrictions for people coming from Maharashtra
