The Food Safety and Standard Association of India (FSSAI), has recently awarded the ‘Eat Right Station’ certificate to Bhopal Railway Station.
The Ministry of Railways, in a press release, stated that the railway station was given this prestigious award for providing ‘high-quality, nutritious food to passengers.
The FSSAI-empaneled third-party audit agency rates the railway stations in terms of hygiene practices and food storage.
The agency rates the railway station between 1-5 were a 4-star rating being full compliance by the station to ensure safe and hygienic food.
The FSSAI launched a movement called ‘Eat Right India’ in 2018. It’s an effort to transform the food system of the country and ensure healthy, sustainable, and safe food for travellers.
Apart from the Bhopal Railway Station, Chandigarh Railway station was the fifth Indian railway station that was awarded a 5-star ‘Eat Right Station’ certification in September 2021, whereas the other railway stations to have received such awards in the past include Anand Vihar Terminal Railway Station (Delhi), Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Mumbai), Mumbai Central Railway Station (Mumbai), and Vadodara Railway Station (Vadodara).
