Badrinath Temple reopening announced.

After a winter break, the holy gates of Shri Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand will be reopened for devotees from May 18, 2021.

Located in Chamoli district, the gates of the temple will be closed every year after Diwali due to the winter season and during this season the gates will be closed as the region will be covered with thick blankets of snow.

According to the reports, the temple gates will open at 04:15 am on May 18 and the auspicious date for reopening the shrine was fixed at a ceremony held on the holy occasion of Basant Panchami on February 16, 2021.

Badrinath Temple is one of the Char Dhams of Uttarkhand pilgrimage circuit along with Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the reopening of Badrinath Temple was delayed and the reopening of Kedarnath has not yet been announced.

Besides these Char Dham sites, other important temples in Uttarkhand such as Tungnath and Madamaheshwar that were closed will be reopened as spring sets in.
