Andaman makes it compulsory to get negative RT-PCR reports for Incoming air passengers.

Given the current covid-19 situation in the country, port Blair has taken some strict measures to cap the rising number of the Omicron variant in the region. The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has announced that all incoming air passengers should provide negative RT-PCR test reports. From now on, all travelers to the Union Territory will have to carry a negative Covid-19 test report to enter the region.

An official order has been circulated by the Health and Civil Aviation Secretary where partially, fully vaccinated citizens should provide negative RT-PCR test report which is not older than 48 hours before coming to the territory.

“In view of the recent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases including the detection of Omicron variant cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and to effectively manage the challenge arising out of the same, the authorities have taken this decision in the interest of public health” stated the order.

The administration has asked all the airlines to make sure that covid-19 protocols to followed by all. Also, passengers who have traveled to any foreign destinations in the last 30 days will have to take the RT-PCR test on arrival at Port Blair Airport.

Till the reports come, travelers will have to isolate themselves at the airport facility. If someone tests positive for the virus, quarantine protocol will be followed.
