If a senior citizen is planning to take a domestic flight for the new year then reportedly, Air India has announced that they would be providing a 50% concession on base fare which can be availed by citizens who are aged over 60.
As per Air India’s official website, the national carrier has provided particular criteria where those who match the criteria mentioned will be allowed to avail of the offer. In its notification, Air India said, “The tickets should be booked for a senior citizen of Indian nationality, permanently residing in India and should have attained the age of 60 years on the date of commencement of journey.”
Reportedly, the scheme will be applicable on select booking classes for Economy seats. Also, the total amount will not only include the base fare, but also additional charges. Referring to this the Director-General of Civil Aviation stated that a potential airfare will also include common user terminal fee, airport development fee, airline fuel charge, and other convenience charges.
During the time of booking the tickets, the passenger should furnish any valid photo ID with Date of Birth, Senior Citizens ID card, and further details mentioned in the criteria.
However, if an ID card or documents if not provided at the boarding gate, the base fare discount will be fortified and the tickets will become non-refundable. Except taxes and levies will be refunded. Also, the ticket will be fortified if the passenger does not turn up at the time of check-in.
Those passengers who are eligible for the said scheme can travel anywhere domestically.
